We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistants - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
We are seeking dedicated Education Assistants to join our team and support teaching staff in delivering planned education programs. Suitable applicants will play a crucial role in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students. You'll also be responsible for offering feedback on education and therapy programs as needed and taking part in the assessment of student progress. Additionally, a willingness and capability to support students' overall health and wellbeing, along with the readiness to engage with children exhibiting challenging behaviours, are highly valued attributes.
Suitable applicants will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and whole school approaches. Knowledge of Zones of Regulation, as well as Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Programs will be an advantage.
Teamwork skills, including strong collaboration and cooperation form the foundation of our collective efforts, making these qualities essential for prospective candidates. We actively seek team players with a growth mindset to join us. Looking ahead, we anticipate the establishment of an Education Support Unit to serve students with high physical needs and/or intellectual disabilities. - Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing and the ability to effectively interact with students with special needs, and liaise with parents, teachers and community members and assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
