The Role
The Cleaner in Charge is responsible for opening and closing the college, including arming and disarming security; carrying out internal and external cleaning duties; allocating the duties of the cleaning team; assisting with regular cleaning inspections; arranging and supporting relief staff; reporting absences and maintaining the cleaners’ time book and leave paperwork; providing on the job induction and training for cleaning staff; ordering and maintaining cleaning stock levels within the allocated budget; and liaising daily with the Manager Corporate Services or relevant Business Support Officer regarding any damage, issues or concerns detailed on the communication board.
Standard work hours are 5:00am to 8:00am and 2:00pm to 6:00pm each day, with a split shift allowance.
The successful applicant will ideally have extensive experience with carrying out internal and external cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, rubbish removal, and other general cleaning. You should have a sound knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices.
You will ideally have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to organise, train and motivate your team of cleaning staff to work effectively and with a minimum of supervision. Experience with on-the-job inductions and training for new and existing cleaning staff would be advantageous.
