Paraburdoo Primary School caters for approximately 200 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 in the Ashburton Shire of the Pilbara. It is the only school in town with enrolments fluctuating depending on the strength of the mining industry. The Role
Suitable applicants will ideally be passionate, motivated and skilled educators who are committed to improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for every child, every day, through our whole school approaches and explicit instructional strategies. Teachers will be committed to using trauma-informed practices to create safe and inclusive classrooms, and to building strong relationships with students and their families.
It is highly desirable that applicants are committed to developing positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the wider community. Applicants should possess a strong capacity to plan challenging and engaging programs using an excellent understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum.
We are seeking applicants who are innovative and possess high quality teaching skills and knowledge. They will ideally be committed to ongoing professional growth and development, support current whole school processes and be collegial, effective collaborators.
Knowledge of the science of reading and its application in primary classrooms is highly desirable, as is knowledge of our school-wide programs Talk for Writing Early Years, 7 Steps to Writing Success, Top Ten Mathematics, Maths Mastery, Spelling Mastery and UFLI phonics.
Successful applicants for this pool may be considered for classroom teaching or specialist teacher roles as needs arise, with the school providing well established Physical Education, Arts and Science programs. As such, teachers with specialisations in these curriculum areas are also strongly encouraged to apply.

Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
