This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2025
Freshwater Bay Primary School (PS) are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Deputy Principal to join their friendly team. This position is 0.6 but we are open to negotiating an additional teaching role up to 0.4 should the successful applicant be interested.
Freshwater Bay PS is situated centrally in the suburb of Claremont at the mid-point of road and rail links between Perth and Fremantle. It caters for students from Pre-Primary through to Year 6. The stability of student and staff numbers contributes to the successful implementation of long-term strategies. Freshwater Bay PS offers specialist programs in Science, Music, Art, Physical Education and French. The children can access an Instrumental Music Program from Years 3 to 6. Freshwater Bay PS is a family and community-oriented school with a tradition of providing a quality education to families in the Claremont.

The Role
The successful applicant will ideally be knowledgeable in managing and coaching staff in curriculum improvement in collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team. The Deputy Principal should provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision and establishing strong relationships with students, staff, and the community. Working collaboratively to manage student behaviour and assist with student wellbeing based on a positive, educative, and restorative mindset is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will ideally have outstanding communication and organisational skills; resilience and the proven ability to lead staff in effective change management. They should also have experience in embedding whole-school approaches, managing and leading curriculum improvement. The ideal candidate should develop and implement strategies as outlined in the school improvement plan and assist in the development of evidence-based whole school curriculum plans and processes. We are seeking a Deputy Principal with a good understanding of data informed planning, teaching, and assessing and the ability to extend highly capable learners. An ability to autonomously lead school wide operational projects and processes would also be highly regarded.
