Oberthur Primary School (PS), an Independent Public School, is in a quiet area of Bull Creek and has a traditionally strong community involvement. The school population of 650 students from Kindergarten to Year 6, has a mix of cultural backgrounds and English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) is a feature, particularly in the early years. The school is set in attractive surroundings with many trees, shade, and well- maintained gardens.
As well as an academic focus, Oberthur PS has an historically strong and established Languages program with a Chinese Immersion (bi-lingual). Program commencing in Pre-primary and fully implemented up to Year Six. The Role

Oberthur PS is searching for an inspiring and passionate Associate Principal who displays exemplary knowledge and experience to contribute to the further refinement of the school’s culture of high performance and high care through our school vision of every student, every classroom, every day, inspiring futures.
The Associate Principal collaborates with the Principal and other members of the Executive Team to provide educational leadership across the school community, promote the school vision and assist in the facilitation of workforce effectiveness.
The successful applicant will ideally be a dynamic and highly visible leader with strong interpersonal skills who demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience to mentor, develop and lead staff; support students; interact with the community; and contribute to the continuing and outstanding positive school ethos and atmosphere.
A key aspect of the role is to provide high level leadership in several areas of administrative responsibilities. The successful applicant should have an excellent understanding of curriculum and instructional leadership, in addition to experience in leading professional learning to further enhance the implementation of the WA Curriculum across the school in relevant areas. Experience in analysing data, developing plans, and leading aspects of school review will also be highly regarded. Knowledge and experience in using data to develop evidence-based intervention plans would also be considered.
Developed interpersonal skills and a collaborative team approach is important to ensure all staff members are valued contributors in the planning and review processes.
Experience in supporting, mentoring, coaching, and providing feedback to teachers is needed in maintaining and improving the whole school connected practices and instructional strategies.
In addition, there are operational responsibilities associated with this position, which ensure the safety, well-being, and outstanding achievement of the Oberthur School Community.
Staff participate in weekly meetings involving Collaborative Year Level Teams, phase meetings, curriculum development and professional learning opportunities.
Music and Physical Education are specialist areas. The school’s belief system is closely linked to the Principles of Teaching and Learning and Assessment. Pedagogy is strongly influenced by John Hattie’s ‘Visible Learning’, thinking skills, Structure of Observed Learning Outcomes (SOLO) Taxonomy and First Steps. Whole school practice includes a common lesson design structure, Literacy and Numeracy Blocks, explicit teaching, and moderating judgements through a collaborative focus on the Achievement Standards and content descriptions for each learning area.
Oberthur PS is strong in Digital Technology and has an established one-to-one MacBook and iPad program. All teaching staff are issued an iPad which assists in the facilitation of collaborative meetings, as well as supporting planning and implementation of the learning program, assessment, and communication.
