The Role
BCPS is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Art Specialist Teacher to join our Specialist Team. Integrating Visual Arts with Chinese Languages and Performing Arts the teacher should have exceptional interpersonal skills and a natural ability to cultivate positive relationships with parents and carers, students, colleagues, and the community through opportunities to showcase student visual and performance arts to a wider audience.
The successful applicant should enjoy working in a busy multicultural school which is an integral part of the local community. BCPS is working to engage and reflect its rich, diverse community through a broad range of communication strategies, an active School Board, P&C, Baldja Waangkiny, an Aboriginal Parent Liaison Group, and a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) Parent Group.
To be successful in this role you will ideally possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, well developed data literacy, an attention to detail and the capacity to work collaboratively and efficiently in a team environment. We strive to create a positive, happy, and rewarding school experience for all students and staff.
The Teacher should contribute towards educational leadership in the school and community. Through the engagement and development of students, and the implementation of evidence-based programs, they will ideally display excellence in teaching and learning, embedding the Quality Teaching Strategy and Teaching for Impact into the Arts Program. Working in a collaborative environment, they will ideally have experience in mentoring and supporting other Teachers through classroom observations, which target low variability across classes and progress data-driven decision making. Our whole school teaching and learning programs ensure consistency through the years and give our students opportunities to be taught at their level and point of need, using gap analysis data to provide scaffolded interventions and differentiated learning.
A key component of the role is targeting the school Business Plan (here) and the school priorities through deprivatised practice and low variability. A sound knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and whole school literacy and numeracy programs are highly desirable, as well as the ability to participate in collaborative data analysis, classroom observations and feedback, and professional learning teams. BCPS Teachers are integral to the planning and operational aspects of the committees within the school and to the shared building of capacity of all team members.
BCPS is focused on high performance and high care through a school improvement agenda based around student wellbeing, student engagement and student inclusion. Teachers work closely with the Student Services team and the Student Wellbeing and Behaviour Education committee. The Teacher will have a strong behaviour management toolbox and Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) training and a deep understanding of tiered approaches. Well-developed knowledge and experience in the Elastik platform, the Quality Teaching Strategy, Teaching for Impact, the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework, and the English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD) Progress Maps would be advantageous.
