The Role
Balcatta SHS is after an enthusiastic Generalist teacher to support primarily our Year 7 students who speak English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) students. Balcatta SHS is a proudly multicultural school, where our student cohort of over 1000 students is represented by over 40 nationalities, with a quarter of our students coming from Bhutan.
As a member of our team, you will ideally be a conscientious, flexible and innovative teacher who is committed to supporting students improve their acquisition of English. To be successful in this role you should be flexible and display a broad skill set as you should deliver quality Maths, English, Science and HaSS curriculums to EALD students. You will ideally be actively involved both within the school and wider community, highly reflective of your teaching practices and committed to evidence-based decision making and differentiation.
Applicants should be motivated, possessing the ability to teach across subject areas and will be knowledgeable of the Western Australian Curriculum. As a Generalist Teacher with a focus on EALD, you will deliver a differentiated curriculum which meets the needs of all students and have an expectation that all students can reach their potential. Knowledge and experience with the Department of Education EALD Progress Map is desirable. You should be a teacher who aspires for academic excellence and is committed to high quality teaching and learning. In this position, the successful applicant will be required to co-design with other leaders, a varied and engaging curriculum, so you will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the student’s development.
