The Role
Harrisdale PS is seeking highly motivated Deputy Principals to join the team. Ideal applicants should be high-performing and possess attributes that are associated with effective leadership: openness for learning, trustworthiness, resilience, interpersonal acumen, self-awareness, and drive to excel. Working in a large, fast-paced and dynamic environment, suitable applicants should be reflective, solutions-focussed, have well-developed emotional intelligence, initiative and will work collaboratively and independently to ensure their portfolio is maintained to a high standard.
Suitable applicants will ideally possess highly developed knowledge of Teaching for Impact, as well as current research and evidence-based practice to lead instructional practice across the school, particularly in Literacy, Numeracy, Inquiry and Technologies.
You should be a good listener and possess excellent communication skills enabling you to effectively develop and collaborate with others to sustain professional teams that use evidence and data to inform decision making. Suitable applicants will ideally have a strong emphasis on building networks, professional learning for themselves and for others, and have mentoring and coaching experience to foster and develop teaching and leadership capacity.
You should exhibit the capability and commitment required to develop, maintain and sustain conditions for whole school improvement, including leading and managing effective change and innovation to ensure the vision and strategic plan are put into action across the school. You will ideally have the ability to effectively manage staff, physical and financial resources.
Suitable applicants should have well developed case management skills to monitor student progress while enhancing student engagement and wellbeing. You should be responsive to culture and have a clear understanding of the conditions and learning environments required to promote inclusivity and student success. You should set high standards of behaviour, attendance, and leverage student voice. You will ideally have a proven ability to work effectively in partnership with families, organisations, and services to provide the best outcomes for our students.
