The Role
We are seeking individuals with experience in teaching students with learning support needs, both from primary and secondary contexts. Preference will be given to those with the capacity to work effectively with students with complex needs. Successful candidates will ideally require excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate closely with school leadership, teachers and education assistants to ensure teaching and learning adjustments for students with disabilities and learning difficulties. The ability to utilise contemporary, evidence-based practices related to Autism Spectrum Disorder and various learning disabilities and difficulties is highly desirable. Additionally, this role involves leading the school-wide Individual Education Plan (IEP) process, overseeing the development and review of IEPs, and providing leadership and support to fellow educators.
A large portion of this role will ideally require exceptional organisational skills, including the ability to manage time effectively, prioritise, keep accurate records and the ability to analyse data to inform planning and practice that improves outcomes for students. The successful applicant for this position should possess knowledge and skills in some or all of the areas below:
- Supporting the improvement of literacy and numeracy outcomes of students with learning support needs through suitable intervention and differentiation strategies within the classroom.
- Liaison with external agencies and support to ensure planning for students with identified learning support is comprehensive.
- Applying for and reviewing the schools Disability Resourcing applications
- Managing and ensuring compliance with National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)
- Compliance with schools’ data recording requirements and processes
This position will include a teaching component in alignment with the successful applicants skill-set and the needs of the school.
