Lockridge Primary School (PS) is located in the City of Swan and has an enrolment of approximately. 280 students. The student population is culturally diverse with families from Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe. Approximately 40% of students are of Aboriginal heritage and approximately 20% have language backgrounds other than English.

The Role
Suitable applicants will ideally be collaborative in striving to strengthen our vision of being “a connected community where everyone belongs”, whilst having rich capacity to improve academic, social and emotional outcomes for students.
The suitable applicants will ideally have evidenced ability to successfully implement the Western Australian Curriculum, using a balanced range of explicit, play and other evidence-based teaching strategies, with a strong focus on developing Literacy and Numeracy through key whole school strategies including Letters & Sounds, Talk 4 Writing (ECE), 7 Steps to Writing Success (MUP) and Paul Swan Maths. As Centre for Excellence in the Explicit Teaching of Literacy alumni, the suitable applicants should be able to deliver rich learning, aligned to whole school, collaborative planning models.
The diversity of our student cohort requires our educators to possess a strong capacity to integrate trauma-informed practices and differentiate the program in order to meet the needs of our community. The suitable applicants will ideally have evidenced capacity to engage the PBS initiative, as well as other evidence-based wellbeing programs, allowing them to implement a range of positive engagement strategies.
The suitable applicants will also display a strong capacity to manage complex behaviours of students, including those with diagnosed or imputed disabilities. This will include implementing Individual Behaviour Plans, Risk Management Plans, Escalation Behaviour Profiles and Transition Plans and linking with stakeholders including but not limited to School of Special Education Needs, Child Protection and Family Support and the Child Development Service.
The suuitable applicants will ideally have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and build strong, positive relationships with parents/carers and students. An evidenced ability to be a positive, supportive colleague who works collaboratively with peers is essential at Lockridge PS. This extends to collaboration with and support of Education Assistants and participation in a range of teams and decision-making bodies. As current finalists in two 2024 WA Education Awards categories (Excellence in Wellbeing and Learning and Excellence in School Leadership), staff culture is of utmost importance, hence, the successful applicants will need to demonstrate their capacity to add to the culture of our school community.
