Braeside Primary School (PS) is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher (Kindergarten) to join our enthusiastic team.
Braeside PS is situated in the town of Katanning, in the Central Great Southern region of Western Australia. With a population of approximately 4,200, Katanning is the centre of a successful grain and sheep farming area. The school population is comprised of a unique blend of cultures including Malay, Aboriginal, Burmese, African, South African, Karen, Indonesian and New Zealand backgrounds.
Students enjoy a safe and secure learning environment. The extensive play areas, surrounded by natural bush settings, are enhanced with new playground equipment and soft fall landing. The school has dedicated Art and Music rooms, a Science room, and a well-resourced school Library. Each classroom has access to an interactive whiteboard, class banks of laptops and/or iPads.
The school is comprised of the Senior classroom block with three classrooms and the Art and Music Area, the Junior classroom block with 7 classrooms, and the Early Years Area with specialised Kindergarten and Pre-Primary classrooms. The Role
The successful applicant will ideally be a passionate, motivated and skilled educator who is committed to improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for every child, every day, through our whole school approaches, explicit teaching and instructional strategies. The ideal candidate will have experience in working alongside Government agencies like speech and occupation therapists.
It is highly desirable that the successful applicant is committed to developing positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community. They should possess a strong capacity to plan challenging and engaging play-based and investigative learning experiences using an excellent understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum, the Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). The successful applicant will use the PreLit program from the MultiLit suite, the Kindergarten Oral Language Program (KOLP), Heggerty, and Peggy Lego for literacy programming. They will also facilitate students to participate in a range of Fundamental Movement Skill activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in incorporating STEM and robotics into the Early Years classroom. On non work days, the candidate can be assured of regular relief in the school if desired.
