The Role
Are you a positive and passionate Performing and Visual Arts Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity to grow the passion for drama at Australind Senior High School?
Australind SHS is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative Drama Teacher who is responsive to change and is willing to support an inclusive education catering for a variety of learning styles across Year 7 to 12 Courses.
The successful applicant should have a commitment to inclusive education and a strategic approach in planning for improved student outcomes. The capacity to differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of students with a range of achievement levels, language backgrounds and learning difficulties will be highly regarded. In keeping with this, the successful applicant will ideally be committed to maximising the engagement and progress of all students.
The position, although primarily drama, requires the applicant to be flexible in teaching across the range of Performing and Visual Arts contexts. Experience teaching primary school students is high desirable as successful applicants maybe required to deliver courses to primary school students as part of their teaching load at Australind Senior High School and to foster the love of drama from primary school to secondary school.
As the successful applicant, you will ideally be a passionate, dedicated Drama and Visual Art teacher with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. You should be able to demonstrate a strong capacity and commitment to fulfill the following:
- Plan, teach and deliver to classes in both Lower and Senior School.
- Create and design face-to-face lessons with clear learning objectives and outcomes.
- Use existing learning materials and develop your own as required.
- Document and maintain assessment results in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Evaluate and monitor student learning and course progress.
- Play a role in student consultations, assessment grading and moderation.
- Understanding and experience in the wide range of fields incorporated within theatre production.
- The ability to integrate a range of performing and visual arts together to improve student engagement and outcomes.
- Demonstrate a willingness to organise, lead and engage in extra-curricular activities including incursions, excursions, rehearsals and performances.
- Create an interactive and positive learning environment for students.
- Foster students passion for drama.
- Lead the drama program at Australind Senior High School.
With effective interpersonal skills, you will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.

Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
