The Role
We are seeking teachers who pursue excellence in teaching, have high expectations and truly believe that all children can learn and be successful. Suitable applicants will ideally be committed to putting students first in their decision-making and undertake the hard work that is inherent in adhering to a whole school approach to delivering a motivating and quality educational program. They should believe that exemplary, evidence-based teaching practices lead to successful students and high standards of achievement.
Suitable applicants will ideally possess a profound understanding of current curriculum and pedagogy with an emphasis of evidenced based practices in explicit teaching techniques, within the teaching of the K-6 programs; Heggerty, Talk for Writing, Promoting Literacy Development (PLD), Science of Reading, and experience in using an explicit Numeracy program. A pedagogical understanding of the Reading Sciences, Rosenshine’s Principles, High Impact Teaching Strategies, Daily Reviews together with Cooperative Learning Strategies is preferred, as well as displaying expertise in the use of data driven practices that enable visible targeted differentiation in meeting the needs of all students. Applicants should ideally be highly motivated, skilled and dedicated educators who are committed to improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for every child, every day, through our whole school approaches, explicit teaching and instructional strategies. A strong understanding of the Western Australia Curriculum is also desirable.
Teachers should be prepared to participate actively in whole school, year level, and learning area planning and curriculum development. Working with the community and engaging parents in the learning programs is a key focus.
Teachers within our Early Childhood Education phase of learning should promote the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards. They should recognise that children need opportunities to interact and build trusting relationships.
