The Role
Hampton Senior High School (SHS) are seeking a suitably qualified, motivated and enthusiastic Student Support Coordinator to join our diverse and committed staff.
As the Student Support Coordinator, you will work in our Autism (ASD) Specialist Learning Program (SLP) to provide individualised and small group support to students in the SLP ASD, encouraging student attendance and achievement at school through providing an environment that nurtures emotional, physical, academic and mental health and wellbeing. This is informed by, and dependent upon, strong communicative relationships and positive partnerships with staff, students, families and the community.
The successful applicant will ideally use an extensive range of support strategies to ensure autistic students are supported to succeed. Working with, and line managed by, the SLP ASD Coordinator, you are responsible for developing responsive and effective support system for autistic students, including assessing areas of risk, developing intervention strategies, preventative programs, assisting educators in the implementation of specialised academic intervention programs and monitoring and communication with students, family and specialist services. It includes working directly with individual students and education staff in the planning, delivery and monitoring of individualised learning curriculums, and positive liaison with families.
Qualifications in areas such as psychology, counselling, community services or similar are highly desirable but not essential. Experience working with autistic secondary students is also highly desirable.
