The Role
Are you passionate about teaching and ready to make a difference in the lives of young learners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds? Atwell Primary School is thrilled to announce the opening of a new IEC in 2025, and we are seeking dynamic, committed Teachers – EAL/D to join our team.
Suitable applicants will be involved with developing and delivering high-quality EAL/D teaching and learning programs across all learning areas, addressing students’ language and literacy needs. They will also provide scaffolded EAL/D instruction tailored to Stage 1 learners, using the EAL/D Progress Map as a planning, monitoring, and assessment tool. You will ideally Implement culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy that supports students’ English language acquisition in line with the Western Australian Curriculum. Suitable applicants will work collaboratively with a diverse student body, including humanitarian visa holders and International Fee-Paying students, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Being able to Differentiate instruction to cater for mixed-ability learners, ensuring all students receive appropriate support will be highly regarded.
Suitable applicants will ideally have experience or qualifications in EAL/D education, with a solid understanding of language acquisition strategies and the Western Australian Curriculum. They should be passionate about working with overseas students, with a particular focus on supporting the unique needs of humanitarian visa holders and International Fee-Paying students. Suitable applicants should ideally possess strong interpersonal skills, capable of building meaningful relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community. Expertise in scaffolding lessons to provide differentiated teaching for a class of mixed-ability students will be highly regarded. You should be committed to fostering a culturally inclusive and supportive environment where students can thrive linguistically, socially, and academically.
