Founded in 1955, Mount Lawley Senior High School (SHS) is located 5 kilometres from the Perth CBD. It comprises three sub-schools; Years 7 & 8, Years 9 & 10 and Years 11 & 12. It hosts a Gifted and Talented Languages program, a Specialist Visual and Performing Arts program, a Music program and the innovative Aboriginal Excellence Program. The Role
Mount Lawley (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of charismatic, passionate, flexible and dedicated English teachers.
Suitable applicants should have a focus on high performance and high care and should ideally display professional knowledge, practical application and understanding of the curriculum from Years 7 – 12. A demonstrated ability to teach ATAR Literature is desirable. Suitable applicants should ideally embrace and commit to the school’s Ethos and Vision. They should be expert in engaging students and provide a learning environment that facilitates students at all levels achieving their full potential. Teachers at Mount Lawley SHS are expected to embrace the school’s Pedagogical Framework (attached).
The work of staff should reflect a personal commitment to the values of the school: excellence, respect, perseverance and learning. There is an expectation that staff engage in reflective practice, informed by a close examination of student performance incorporating data for relevant improvement plans. Teachers work collaboratively with peers and within their various teams as part of a professional learning community.
