The Role
As the original languages of Australia, each language is unique to its own country and connects people with their heritage, culture, and community. Many of these languages are critically endangered, and as a teacher, you will play a vital role in preserving them.
In this role you will give students access to learn and engage with these languages, support community language revitalization, and help students develop a strong sense of identity, pride, and self-esteem. You will also help to strengthen Aboriginal student wellbeing and engagement, build respect for Aboriginal histories, cultures, people, knowledge, and experiences, and promote a wider understanding of sustainability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.
By joining our team, you will support our department's strategic direction to create culturally responsive classrooms that build on the strengths of Aboriginal students and help match the aspirations of families and communities. Apply now to be a part of preserving the rich cultural heritage of Australia.
Professional Benefits
Working for the Department of Education you will enjoy a range of benefits including competitive salaries, flexible working arrangements, training and career development opportunities and attractive leave provisions. Find out more about the benefits by visiting professional and personal benefits.
