This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025
Roleystone Community College (CC) is becoming recognised as one of Western Australia’s outstanding public schools based on the excellence of its teaching and ability to meet the needs of every student. We are a school that provides a high-quality education to students from Kindergarten to Year 10. Roleystone builds promising futures for our students through providing excellent breadth and depth of education and a rich range of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities. Roleystone CC values and fosters community partnerships and sees itself as a community asset.
Central to the students’ experience at Roleystone is a college culture that promotes learning. The school is driven by the deep belief that every student is capable of successful learning and that it is the responsibility of every teacher and leader to ensure that all students progress. Roleystone CC embraces the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly changing world to change lives for the better.
Every student at Roleystone CC matters!
As a school, as leaders and as teachers we don’t give up on students – we constantly explore new ways to engage students who are not making progress, or who are making progress at a rate beyond that of their peers. The personal and familial attributes and circumstances relating to a student are not viewed as reasons or excuses for a student’s lack of academic and/or social progress. Instead, they are viewed as challenges that need to be overcome.
Students will receive every assistance to overcome obstacles to learning, or to provide opportunities to achieve beyond the levels expected of them. We promote school and classroom environments that are safe, respectful, tolerant and inclusive and promote academic rigour. There will be a strong collegial culture of mutual trust, respect and support among teachers and school leaders, and positive, caring relationships between staff, parents, students and the wider community.
At Roleystone CC we focus on early identification and early intervention. Educational disadvantage is cumulative and as such, reducing this disadvantage in the early years provides an investment in the future of every child to ensure they are not left behind. This intervention is facilitated and led by our Associate Principals in conjunction with our School Psychologist and is implemented by specialist teachers and education assistants in conjunction with classroom teachers.
Our primary school has been demonstrating ongoing results at or above those of like schools and is poised to move from “good to great”. The successful applicant should bring the skills, knowledge and vision to make this happen.
