The Role
Exmouth DHS is seeking vibrant, innovative, and dedicated English teachers who are culturally responsive and aware, willing to embed high-quality teaching and learning into their classroom practices while value-adding to our existing programs.
The school is committed to appointing staff who are the right fit for our school and community. We have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality learning experiences. As such, suitable applicants will require a deep knowledge of the Year 7 to 12 English curriculum, experience in planning and delivering programs for a range of student’s capabilities, and actively supporting the school's commitment to whole school consistent programs. ATAR experience would be desirable.
Suitable applicants should ideally have a strong knowledge of highly effective teaching strategies specifically in explicit instruction (EI), and a desire to work with the high-impact teaching team to develop their skills in explicit teaching. Suitable applicants should ideally have an ability to understand and use student and whole school performance data effectively to inform planning and differentiation across all year levels.
With effective interpersonal skills, the suitable applicants will work closely with students, colleagues, and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. Ideally, suitable applicants will challenge and confront complex and conventional practices to provide successful outcomes for students, and continually reflect on their own practices to enhance performance.
As a suitable applicant, you will ideally be highly motivated; student and relationship-focused focused, and able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences. You should utilise innovative initiatives and work effectively within a dynamic team. This involves you reflecting and assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and cultivating a safe learning environment. working closely with students, teachers, and the community to instil rigour, resilience, and pride, allowing students to achieve their full potential.
Suitable candidates will thrive in a small community and possess the independence and resilience to work effectively on their own when required. Living and working in a community like Exmouth requires a willingness to build strong connections and contribute positively both within and outside the classroom. Additionally, the teacher may need to have skills in building relationships with similar schools to create moderation opportunities.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
