We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term (1), (2025). Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
The suitable applicants should display the ability to communicate effectively, be able to assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs, and, under teacher direction, implement individual or small group programs or demonstrations. The suitable applicants should ideally be organised and use their initiative to assist with the preparation and maintenance of the safe learning environment.
Suitable applicants should ideally display the ability to cater for diverse learning needs of students, and a dynamic and highly collaborative approach to meet the needs of all students. In addition, modelling, developing, and implementing exemplary and innovative classroom practices are skills that are vital to this role.
The suitable applicants should ideally be flexible, open to change and committed. We value staff who are creative in their use of resources and strategies and can do so independently or in response to direction from teachers. An ability to work effectively with different staff, teaching styles and learning activities, with initiative, is highly desirable.

- A CV of up to four (4) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position

- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing and the ability to effectively interact with students with special needs, and liaise with parents, teachers and community members and assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program,including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.
