We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the middle of Term 2, 2025. Leeming Primary School (PS) is in the Perth suburb of Leeming, 15km south of the city, Leeming PS is an Independent Public School that currently caters for approximately 380 students from kindergarten through to Year 6. The Role
As an Education Assistant – Special Needs you will ideally assist teachers with providing support for students with special needs. You should, under general supervision and guidance, assist in the implementation of specialised education programs. Additionally, you will ideally assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs, including the operation of computers and digital technologies, and implement individual student or small group programs or demonstrations. This role will require you to provide feedback when required on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.

It is highly desirable for applicants to possess a Cert IV or Cert III in Education Support and have experience in a primary school working with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD); Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD); and/or Type 1 Diabetes (Insulin Pump Dependent). The ability to manage challenging behaviours within a Positive Behaviour in Schools framework is highly desirable. Experience in the support of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples and knowledge of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework is advantageous. You will ideally possess good written and oral communication skills and be competent in the use of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) which will assist teachers and therapists when dealing with students.
