Exmouth District High School (DHS) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Education Assistant – Special Needs (EASN) – Lead to join their team.
Exmouth DHS is a proudly Independent Public School with approximately 520 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. We are committed to providing the best possible education for the students of our community and are charged with preparing our students for a diverse range of futures.
Exmouth is a coastal community of situated in the remote northwest of Western Australia. Located about 1250km north of Perth, 850km north of the large regional city of Geraldton and 550km southwest of the Pilbara mining operations in Karratha, we are surrounded by Cape Range National Park and are the gateway to the unique Ningaloo Reef, recently listed as a World Heritage site. There is a permanent population of approximately 3,500 people which swells to thousands more during peak tourist periods. Due to the number of tourists visiting Exmouth the town has many amenities which would not normally be expected in a town of its size.

The Role
The EASN Lead actively engages in the successful delivery of responsive learning programs, offering advice and expertise. This includes developing student-documented plans, creating resources, completing diagnostic testing and observations, planning, and delivering intervention programs, and participating in case conference meetings. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are key components of this role.
To sustain an ongoing culture of improvement, the EASN Lead will also offer feedback, coaching, and mentorship to Education Assistants, providing training, advice, and guidance to team members. Leadership and teamwork skills are essential in this aspect.
The EASN Lead will be responsible for the effective deployment and rostering of staff throughout classrooms and learning support programs to ensure student needs are met. Organisational skills are crucial for managing a roster for yard duty and obtaining relief when an EA is absent or on leave. Flexibility and problem-solving abilities will be highly regarded.
In collaboration with the Deputy or Manager Corporate Services, the EASN Lead will also be responsible for performance management consultation of all Education Assistants. Additionally, the EASN Lead will work with specific special needs students as part of their role and supervise and work with student in EDHS transitional classroom requiring special needs expertise and intervention planning skills.

- Demonstrated well developed written communication skills, including report writing, and the ability to coordinate, collect and present student data at a whole school community level in a meaningful way.
- Demonstrated well developed organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate staff rosters and relief to assist in the delivery of effective education programs.
