The Role
As a Special Needs Education Assistant, the successful applicant would assist in the delivery of planned education programs that will help in the development of young minds. In this role you will collaborate and work in a team environment and need to be flexible in an ever-changing environment. The successful applicant will ideally possess good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills to enable the implementation of individual or small group programs, such as MultiLit and Spelling Mastery, as well as the ability to support the general health and well-being of students. You will ideally be organised and be able to use your initiative to assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment. Motivation and positivity is important.
The successful applicant would work under teacher direction in a diverse role. As an Education Assistant you would also provide support to ensure the learning environment is inclusive and relevant with the health and safety of students being a high priority. The successful applicant should have the ability to manage student behaviour in accordance with school policies and programs.

- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing and the ability to effectively interact with students with special needs, and liaise with parents, teachers and community members and assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students
