Maylands Peninsula Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistants - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2025. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Maylands Peninsula PS is a family friendly Independent Public School with a community feel. The Role
Suitable applicants should be highly motivated, experienced, passionate, and student focused. In this role, applicants will ideally be expected to work in an environment committed to whole school approaches; self-reflection and continuous self-improvement; working in teams to further learning of students and staff; developing relationships with students and their parents; and have high expectations for all students.
Under Teacher direction, suitable applicants would assist in the implementation of specialised education programs such as occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physiotherapy programs. They would assist Teachers in the delivery of planned education programs, including the operation of computers and digital technologies, and implement individual student or small group programs or demonstrations. Education Assistants, should provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.
Suitable applicants will also ideally be able to display initiative and carry out tasks efficiently. Knowledge and experience working with students with Autism (including Pathological Demand Avoidance), ADHD (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder), physical disabilities and behavioural challenges would be advantageous. Suitable applicants should also be able to display flexibility by working across the school in varied roles.

- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
