We are seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year.
Butler College opened in January 2013 as an inclusive public school for secondary students in Perth's northern suburbs. The College values are at the heart of our culture: Knowledge, Integrity, and Respect.
Since 2020, our Senior Secondary students have performed exceptionally well in Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) courses, with our average median ATAR just below 80 and above comparable schools. In recent years, numerous students have won awards from the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA), including Subject Certificates of Excellence, Subject Exhibition, Certificates of Distinction and Certificates of Merit. Our ATAR pathway is complemented by our General and Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathways. We deliver a variety of certificate qualifications onsite and work closely with other providers to ensure our students have access to the full suite of VET Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS) opportunities.
A key aspect of our College is the endorsed Education Support Program, which supports 80 students with special education and medical needs. Facilities include a hydrotherapy pool and a range of sensory spaces. The Role
As Deputy Principal, you will work closely with the College’s Executive team to develop and promote our vision, mission and values to the school community. You will also be required to work collaboratively with all staff to ensure the implementation of priorities contained within our Strategic Plan drive our day-to-day operations. To be suitable for this role you will be required to have a sound understanding of your Personal Attributes for Leadership, an in-depth knowledge of the Leadership Pipeline Framework and a drive to lead at level. Highly developed change management skills will also be advantageous.
The suitable applicant will ideally possess exemplary teaching, learning and behaviour management practices. As Deputy Principal you should have an outstanding knowledge of Teaching for Impact to ensure our teaching and learning program is meeting the varied and complex needs of our students. You should have highly efficient communication skills and be able to collaborate effectively with others to sustain a professional team culture whereby staff feel supported to share and model best practice.
As a Deputy Principal you should display an ability to build capacity in staff using a variety of development and coaching methods. The suitable applicant will undertake reflective performance development discussions adhering to the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) standards and provide guidance to ensure a consistent high level of performance is occurring, whilst be able to reflect and assess the effectiveness of each team member.
