The Role
We seek an experienced Education Assistant - Mainstream to work with our teaching team, facilitating learning with our youngest students in Kindergarten and Pre-Primary. As an Education Assistant - Mainstream you will, under teacher direction, assist in the implementation of specialised, play and place based education programs and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of students. The successful applicant should display a commitment to working collaboratively and building positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the wider community.
The successful applicant should have a creative, curious, patient, and gentle approach with a diversity of challenging children. You will ideally have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be versatile with the ability to work well under pressure and as a team player. You should possess a calm, positive and professional manner and have the ability to use your initiative to assist the teacher with the general care and wellbeing of students and maintenance of the learning environment. A willingness and capacity to both take direction, and to co design and collaborate will be highly desirable.
The priorities and goals of this position are to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, physical, and social/emotional skills. You should have a strong knowledge of a range of evidence-based techniques for learning and behaviour. Experience with Whole School literacy programs used at SAS: Cracking the Code, UFLI and Talk for Writing: will be looked upon favourably.
