Canning College is seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Canning College has been preparing students to achieve entry into Australia’s leading universities since 1982. As a specialist international education institution, it has established a strong reputation for providing overseas students with the personal development programs and academic pathways required to succeed in tertiary studies. Flexible entry points into Canning College’s academic pathway programs allow international students to start studying in January, April and mid-year, which gives them the opportunity to enter university degree courses sooner.
In the five years from 2019, Canning College’s expert staff focused exclusively on providing pathway-to-university programs for international students. In 2024, the College reinstated the enrolment of local (domestic) senior secondary and adult students seeking entry to university primarily through WA Certificate of Education Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) courses.
Local and international students may enrol in Canning College’s Year 10 program, Year 11 WACE ATAR or General, and Year 12 ATAR programs. International students, as well as selected local students, can also seek to complete the Certificate IV in University Access Program, Diploma of Commerce, and the Western Australian Universities’ Foundation Program (WAUFP). College staff are experienced in providing care, support and academic guidance to students to help them prepare better for the rigours of tertiary studies.
While the College has a special relationship with Western Australian universities, graduates can enrol at all universities across Australia and at many universities across the world. Canning graduates have studied at universities in Australia, England, Ireland, America, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Korea and Singapore.
Canning College students pursue a wide range of degree courses including engineering, medicine, physiotherapy, education, law, pharmacy, nursing and computing.

The Role
Suitable applicants will ideally be expert teachers with excellent curriculum knowledge of Year 11 and Year 12 ATAR Chemistry and/or Physics. Experience teaching Human Biology will also be highly regarded. They should display the passion and professional knowledge to develop and deliver high quality programs and high impact teaching strategies that engage young adult learners and motivate students to succeed with their studies toward university entry. In addition to their proven success teaching ATAR Science courses, suitable applicants should display the ability to create and deliver a relevant and innovative Year 10 Science program that expands and enriches students’ learning experiences.
Suitable applicants will ideally display highly effective communication skills and strong ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students from a broad range of nationalities and cultural backgrounds. They should be able to inspire and support students achieve their full learning potential by developing students’ academic capabilities within an inclusive and positive classroom learning environment.
