The Role
Shorehaven PS is seeking to appoint a highly knowledgeable and innovative Special Needs Education Assistant - Lead (SNEA-L) to join their dynamic team.
The role of the SNEA-L should be to support the Student Services Team in leading and managing the Education Assistant workforce at Shorehaven PS. As part of the role, you will lead, mentor, coach and model effective practices for other Education Assistants (EA). In consultation with teachers, parents/caregivers, other relevant professionals and external agencies, the SNEA-L will be expected to contribute to the design and implementation of documented plans and to provide solutions and support to teachers, which promote positive student behaviour and improved educational outcomes in the classroom. As a member of the leadership team, the SNEA-L will work under limited guidance and should be an important voice in strategic planning. The successful applicant will plan and deliver the worksite induction and training of other Education Assistants as well as assist in the performance development process. Operational activities will include EA timetables, EA relief, as well as performing the duties of an SNEA.
The ideal applicant will ideally bring a solutions-focused and student-centred approach to all tasks, enabling the delivery of high-quality learning programs and improved educational outcomes in the classroom. This role will include the collection and reporting of data at a whole school level.
The successful applicant will ideally be highly professional, organised and display excellent communication skills, drawing on these attributes when working with staff and the school community. The SNEA-L will need to be able to perform tasks which require discretion in problem solving, decision making and choosing methods and processes to achieve outcomes. It is highly desirable that the successful applicant has experience in the coordination and implementation of Tier 2 and 3 intervention programs to support improved educational outcomes for students. It is highly desirable for the successful applicant to have experience in working with and responding to the needs of students with a range of learning needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, specific learning disabilities and trauma.

- Demonstrated well developed organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate staff rosters and relief to assist in the delivery of effective education programs.
