The Role
As the Senior Gardener - Handyperson, you will work to provide gardening, grounds and facility management to ensure a safe and clean school environment. You will maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean and tidy condition, and provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping. The successful applicant will ideally perform minor repairs and maintenance as requested, as well as other Gardener - Handyperson duties in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines.
The successful applicant will ideally have good interpersonal and communication skills to maintain accurate gardening records and manage staff performance. You will ideally have strong leadership skills to supervise the tasks and workload undertaken by our Gardener and provide advice and support to the Manager Corporate Services on School grounds and maintenance matters.
As a Senior Gardener – Handyperson, working knowledge of current Occupational Health and Safety policies is highly regarded to provide students and staff with a safe external environment. Experience in turf management on sporting grounds is also advantageous. The successful applicant should have experience/knowledge in servicing horticultural/gardening equipment and performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks such as those on irrigation systems, are strongly encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant should provide advice and support to the Manager Corporate Services on school grounds maintenance that is current, relevant and consistent with the Department’s policies and procedures on school grounds maintenance. Manage staff performance in accordance with the Public Sector Performance Management Standard and Departmental policy, in consultation with Manager Corporates Services.
