This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025.
Mount Magnet District High School (DHS) is in the Midwest Education District and is situated 569 km northeast of Perth and 340 km east of Geraldton. The Role
The Deputy Principal will ideally provide leadership in the school and the community by helping develop and promote the school values, ethos and priorities, and encouraging school staff, volunteers from the community and others to share ownership of the school’s vision and goals. The successful applicant will ideally show strong leadership in Trauma Informed Practise, PBS and behaviour and risk management planning and implementation.
A deep knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and best practice in teaching will allow the Deputy Principal to lead school improvement alongside teams of educators to ensure students make year-on-year progress.
The successful applicant should ideally be well-versed in knowing how children learn best, including those who may require extra support. Knowledge and experience in leading student services is desirable to assist in the management of processes and resourcing to cater for the needs of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and nurture positive relationships, while being culturally responsive and working collaboratively to contribute to strengthen our vision of success for all within a culture of excellence and inclusion.
- Support the development, implementation, and review of School Improvement Plans for all curriculum areas.
- Lead curriculum initiatives within the school, ensuring alignment with the Schools Business Plan 2025-2026 and key Department of Education documents.
- Support teachers’ growth and capacity building through instructional leadership, including coaching, mentoring and providing constructive feedback. Experienced in this will be key of a successful applicant.
- Assist in the collaborative development and implementation of whole-school pedagogical pathway, known as the “Mount Magnet Way”, ensuring consistency and low variance in teaching methods across the school.
- Think and plan strategically to identify innovative and practical solutions to challenges based on data analysis.
- Collaborate with the Principal and other stakeholders to foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in teaching and learning.
