The Role
To be suitable for this role you will ideally possess strong people skills and the capacity to relate to staff, students, and parents. Suitable applicants should also be highly collaborative and willing to share their skills and expertise.
We seek enthusiastic team members who show initiative in adapting tasks to meet student needs, who continually reflect on their practice and who are open to being observed and receiving feedback to guide their professional growth. You will contribute advice and expertise; collaborating with staff to support and monitor student progress.
Positive and passionate applicants who are willing to work closely with the classroom teacher to help create and maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment along with experience in a mainstream setting or the capacity to learn and take directions, are encouraged to apply.
Ideally, applicants should be reliable, conscientious, independent workers who are able to think on their feet and make sensible decisions. Applicants with experience in Team Teach, Multi Lit Suite of programs and phonics training are encouraged to apply.
As a Mainstream Education Assistant you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of planned educational programs and working with students from diverse backgrounds to create a support and inclusive learning environment. In addition, you will assist with the health and hygiene of students and assist with the preparation of any resources required to implement educational programs within the classroom. Applicants ideally have the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as possess good written and oral communication skills to enable the implementation of individual or small group based programs. Solid behaviour management skills are highly desirable.
Other duties will include the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials and resources for use in classes, displays and demonstrations and will assist the teacher with the clean and safe storage of items after classes and activities.
