Broome North Primary School (PS) is seeking a highly skilled, dedicated, and enthusiastic Teacher – Music to join our friendly school.
Our school is a modern facility located on Yawuru land in the coastal town of Broome, part of Western Australia's stunning Kimberley region. Opening in 2015 with 100 students, our school has grown steadily over the past 6 years, with 380 enrolments for 2024.

The Role
The successful applicant will be afforded a generous budget and tasked with running the Orff and Kodaly based music program and music integration across the school and community. If successful, your teaching load will comprise thirteen 60-minute lessons each week, delivered to our Year PP to 6 classes, plus choirs, and Brass program once a week and well as community events such as NAIDOC events, assemblies, and the end of year concert support. With a positive and enthusiastic approach, you will engage students to learn and develop within the music field. With excellent interpersonal skills you will be willing to collaborate with school staff and members of the wider community. Whilst you’ll be chiefly responsible for the initial success of the school music program, the school leadership team will back you and support you each step of the way to achieve excellent results in a holistic approach to music appreciation. You will join a team of staff who are committed to building positive relationships, with the motivation to pursue excellence.

The school is committed to attracting, recruiting, and coaching teachers to master the explicit teaching pedagogy that produces high-achieving students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The role is 0.8 FTE (four days a week), school based and 0.2 FTE (one day a week) Brass with the Instrumental Music School Services. This equates to 1.0 FTE or five days a week with the occasional community event after hours.

Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
