This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025
Located in Banksia Grove, just 27 km from Perth CBD, Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) is an Independent Public School catering to students from Years 7-12. Our vision is to create a culture of excellence, innovation, and opportunity, ensuring every student receives individual attention and support. We are committed to developing literate, numerate, and curious learners through a broad-based 21st Century curriculum.
As a developing and growing College, we were successful in our application to become a STEM TDS school when the initiative was launched through the Department of Education in 2016. Our leadership in STEM has continued, and the College has created partnerships with the CoRE Learning Foundation and the international P-Tech program to foster student pathways in this area. Joseph Banks SC is the Northern Perth P-Tech specialising in Cybersecurity, offering students opportunities for tertiary pathways to both TAFE and University.
The College established SciScope, a program for students from local primary schools aimed at developing our primary students as young scientists. To further develop our STEM strategy, we are now close to opening the Western Australian Space Science Education Centre.
The focus of our work at Joseph Banks SC is on quality teaching and providing the widest range of opportunities for the young people who attend our college. We are developing the school as a centre for best practice in teacher development and student achievement. Programs range from support initiatives, like our Learning Hub for ASD students, through to extension and challenge for students who are academically gifted.
