The Role
Halls Head CESC is seeking to appoint a hardworking and dedicated Special Needs Education Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team.
As an Education Assistant – Special Needs you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of planned education programs. This will include managing small groups of students under the direction of the teacher. You will work in a collaborative environment to provide support for students in and out of the classroom. Experience and qualifications in working with students with Intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, mental health, and behavioural special needs would be highly desirable.
The successful applicant should be friendly, approachable, flexible, and have a genuine interest in supporting students with high educational needs, and in providing pastoral care to all students. You will ideally be caring, proactive, and responsive, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as possess good written and oral communication skills to enable the implementation of individual or small group-based programs. Applicants who are confident and innovative in using Information Communication Technology are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant should display a willingness to learn and continue to develop knowledge and skills.
As an Education Assistant - Special Needs, you would, under general supervision and guidance, perform tasks that require discretion and judgement in achieving clearly defined outcomes determined by the teacher. You will ideally be able to apply techniques, skills and knowledge of relevant principles and practices acquired through previous experience, job learning, and relevant qualifications. You will work collaboratively with your colleagues, to implement strategies from our school plan and meet our school’s vision. You should be committed to supporting all of our students with dignity, ensuring that they feel safe and heard. You should embrace our school community’s commitment to Positive Education and Sustainability and adhere to our school’s Consistent and Connected practices.
Our current student cohort comprises almost two thirds male students and the successful applicant would ideally be experienced and skilled in providing social and physical support and guidance to adolescent male students with disabilities.

- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
