This is a 36 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025
Looma RCS is part of the Kimberley Schools Project, which is based on scientific research on effective instruction. As part of the project, the admin team provides an environment that balances academic rigour with strong cultural connections. With over 90% of our student population and 50% of staff being of Aboriginal heritage, an understanding of the educational and social challenges of a remote setting and being able to work in a culturally responsive manner are essential to this role.
The school is located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, approximately 130 km southeast of Derby, some 30 km (dirt road) south of the Derby to Fitzroy Crossing Highway. The school services the Looma Aboriginal Community (390-410 people) and the town of Camballin (30-40 people), approximately fifteen minutes from the school. Looma Community is built at the base of the picturesque Grant Range, and the school enjoys magnificent vistas of the surrounding hills and rock formations that give Looma its name.

The Role
Looma Remote Community School (RCS) seeks a highly motivated and innovative Program Coordinator to lead school operations and student services. The role includes driving the operational plans around student health, well-being, and attendance. They will also facilitate targeted student intervention through SEN Planning and Reporting in Attendance, Behaviour Management, and Literacy and Numeracy interventions. The successful applicant will also have line management responsibilities for both teaching and support staff with student services related roles.
The Program Coordinator—Operations should be highly skilled in information technology. An understanding of Compass and SIS is highly desirable as the role will involve timetabling class schedules, relief teaching cover and duty rosters. They should also have a flexible and solutions-based approach.
The successful applicant will play a crucial role in leading the review and implementation of school policies to support curriculum delivery, behaviour management, attendance and full participation of all students. They will evaluate and revise reporting and accountability mechanisms in the school to meet the needs of students, parents/carers and colleagues. Additionally, the program coordinator will oversee senior school (Year 10 to 12) programs, which the program coordinator will oversee the senior school (Year 10 to 12) programs, including that include Vocational Education and Workplace Learning. The successful applicant will also coordinate the School of Isolated and Distance Education program that delivers mainstream English and Mathematics to high school students. This will involve direct supervision.
