We are seeking to establish a pool of Teacher - Education Support for permanent and fixed term, full-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Our school is staffed by educators who strive to provide an enriched language program for students who have a recognised Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). We provide intensive language and academic intervention for children from Kindergarten to Year 2. Staff members work and plan collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team which includes teachers, speech pathologists, school psychologists and education assistants. Individualised language programs are incorporated into a modified Western Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework. Suitable applicants should be able to work within a dynamic and collaborative team environment, be committed to whole school approaches and possess a strong evidence-based approach to teaching and learning.
South East Language Development Centre (SELDC) has three campuses co-located at Belmay PS, East Maddington PS and Kingsley PS. Teachers are should be flexible and may be placed at any campus or change campus locations according to the needs of the school. The capacity to work with students with high communication needs including behaviour modification is important. Strong behaviour management skills and ability to develop & implement individual success plans for students with extreme self-regulation difficulty is desirable. Staff are student focused, with high expectations, and value building strong working relationships with our community. Motivation to be involved in research and the development of strategies. Suitable applicants will be supported to develop expertise & knowledge in DLD and its impact on student learning and social emotional wellbeing.

The Role
Suitable applicants should have effective interpersonal skills and be flexible, energetic and prepared to engage in partnerships with colleagues, speech pathologists, parents and other agencies. The ability to apply current evidence-based research to classroom practice is highly desirable alongside the ability to use a range of ICT across the curriculum to meet the learning needs of students with DLD. Early childhood experience, knowledge in administering and analysing specific school based and standardised oral language assessments and making the appropriate learning adjustments to developing individual education plans are key to this role. Applicants should ideally provide a learning environment that is caring, engaging, and differentiated to cater for the specific needs of our students. You should have the capacity to use innovative technologies to enhance student learning, and you will ideally have a sound understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
