The Role

Coastal Lakes College is an Independent Public School (IPS) seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Science teacher with excellent interpersonal skills. The successful applicant should be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated. The successful applicant for this position should be student and relationship focused, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in team environments. You should possess the professional knowledge, understandings, and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school Science curriculum. Experience in teaching senior school Science courses, particularly Biology and Physics – both ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) and General, is highly desirable.
As an expert practitioner you should have commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection. Another key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and differentiate educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs. You should model highly effective teaching, learning and assessment principles such as explicit instruction, reciprocal teaching (formative assessment) and feed forward. The College has an imbedded culture of professional growth and development, supported by Instructional Coaching.
The College has a strong STEAM focus, working in a collaborative partnership with local primary schools, industry and tertiary education. The successful applicant should demonstrate the ability to develop innovative classroom practices utilising the College’s cutting edge IT infrastructure and embedded 21 Century Skills within their teaching and learning.
