About the Role:
The successful applicant will be a passionate and dedicated educator, innovative practitioner, and highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. They should provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their skills, knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of Arts contexts.
At Joseph Banks Secondary College, you will:
- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students.
- Teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 – 12 in a highly engaging manner.
- Provide strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of Music ATAR and Certificate III in Music Industry (Performance) for Year 11 and 12 students.
- Engage students in the Music Academy, offering a major course for the entire year and rotating through other Arts contexts as a minor course each trimester.
Music Programs at Joseph Banks SC:
- Music Academy: This is a high-performance Academy course aimed at extending and challenging our students’ talents. This program allows students to immerse themselves in music while also exploring other Arts contexts each trimester.
- Senior Secondary Courses: In Year 11 and 12, we offer Music ATAR and Certificate III in Music Industry (Performance). These courses provide students with advanced knowledge and skills, preparing them for further education and careers in the music industry. Many students gain access to WAAPA through our Senior School courses.
- Extracurricular Opportunities: Our Music department hosts a variety of extracurricular activities, including school bands, choirs, and ensembles. Students have the chance to perform at school events, community functions, and competitions.
- Workshops and Masterclasses: We regularly invite professional musicians and industry experts to conduct workshops and masterclasses, giving students unique insights and hands-on experience in different aspects of music.
- Recording Studio: Our cutting-edge recording studio allows students to learn about music production and recording techniques, providing them with practical skills that are highly valued in the music industry.
Joseph Banks Secondary College is seeking a collaborative teacher:
- Who possesses a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, with knowledge of and experience in a range of instructional strategies and tactics.
- With strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team environment and the willingness to engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents, and external networks.
