We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistants – Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Clarkson Community High School (CHS) provides high-quality education to over 4300 students in Year 7 to Year 12. We have high-quality teaching and a curriculum that engage and extend students. The Role
Suitable applicants will ideally have experience in working with students with a variety of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Diabetes, Anxiety and Trauma backgrounds. Suitable applicants will ideally be experienced in supporting the needs of students with self-regulation of behaviour and social and emotional responses. Experience in using a variety of strategies to develop communication and socialisation skills is also highly desirable. Applicants who have had experience and expertise in working with challenging behaviours will be highly sought after.
You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with teachers to create and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of students. Suitable applicants should be organised and able to use their initiative to assist the teacher with the general care and well-being of students and the maintenance of the learning environment. You will ideally work either under general supervision or autonomously and contribute advice and expertise, collaborating with school community members to support student achievement. We are seeking applicants who are ideally committed to enhancing students’ learning opportunities through ongoing reflective classroom practice. You would plan and engage in professional learning opportunities which include collaboration with colleagues. You will ideally contribute to and maintain a team environment.

- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
