This is a twenty-one (21) month fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP
This Secondary Schools, District High Schools and Post-School Pathways Directorate provides coordinated expertise to regions and secondary schools identified as requiring support. It provides responsive support for Vocational Education and Training (VET), workplace learning and career development. It also provides strategic advice and subject matter expertise to schools, regions and the system in relation to secondary and district high school VET provision with a focus on providing meaningful post school pathways for students
The Role
The Department of Education is seeking to recruit a Head of Learning - Mathematics. This pivotal role is aimed at enhancing curriculum delivery and supporting professional growth across regional and remote schools, particularly within the Regional and Remote Opt-in Strategy. The role involves working closely with school administrative teams to promote and implement the school’s vision and goals for Mathematics learning areas. The Head of Learning Area - Mathematics will also be required to support schools as part of SWS Request for Assistance Process (RFA).
Key responsibilities include:
- advising on course options and selections
- assisting in the development of policy or processes, including contextually appropriate teaching, and learning plans
- promoting a culture of improvement and providing professional leadership to teachers
- ensuring teachers have up-to-date information on curriculum issues
- developing unit outlines, assessment tasks, and marking keys
- supporting relief staff with quality resources and advice
- facilitating professional learning sessions and workshops
- ability to work independently and manage their time and workload to fulfil all aspects of the role
