The Role
Kirup PS is seeking to appoint applicants who are passionate and self-reflective educators. We believe students learn best when they:
- feel a strong sense of belonging
- learn via evidence-based whole-school approaches, guided by cognitive science.
- are provided with opportunities to succeed and ‘exceed expectations’
- are supported and guided via strong school values
These beliefs guide us in our decision-making and strategic direction as a school and are central reference points in our School Business Plan. In our Primary classrooms, we aim to offer whole-school approaches which provide both rigour and enrichment.
Suitable applicants will ideally show excellence in teaching and learning, with an expert understanding of evidence based practices across all curriculum areas. It is important to us that all students have a sense of belonging in our school, nurtured through calm, orderly and predictable environments which are built on our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework and strong country values.
Suitable applicants will ideally be innovative and systematic in their approach to delivering Tier 2 interventions in target priority areas such as literacy, numeracy and social emotional learning and will understand the importance of using data to inform these decisions. Knowledge of Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) lesson delivery, lesson design, engagement norms, participation tactics, daily reviews and effective feedback is also highly desirable.
Kirup PS has collaborative team structures which provide opportunities for staff to explore areas of interest which are targeted explicitly at supporting our students to achieve their educational goals. Suitable candidates to this pool will be able to meaningfully contribute to a range of roles within these teams.
Within Kirup PS, we are committed to whole school approaches to lesson deliver and programs such as Promoting Literacy Development, Talk for Writing & Oxford Maths to ensure that every student has a pathway for success. Our plan-teach-assess-respond model, is informed via regular BrightPath moderation. Successful teachers in our school are able to find innovative strategies and systems to ensure year on year progress for our students, within a multi-age group classroom structure. We have a strengths-based approach with our students and use this knowledge to build positive educational relationships with our families.
