The Role
Over the last few years, our college has been on a development journey with the Science of Learning, and we have recently completed an internship with the Centre for Excellence in the Explicit Teaching of Literacy. Interested applicants should have a strong understanding of how students learn, experience with strategies for managing cognitive load and a genuine commitment to the use of evidence-based practices and the implementation of low variance curricula and delivery across the primary. Applicants should be familiar with the explicit instruction model and have experience with the practice of implementing engagement norms, daily reviews and shared reading. At our college, we place a high premium on collaborative and mutually supportive relationships; we learn together and commit ourselves to constant reflection and self-improvement to support high standards of progress and achievement for our students. Applicants should be enthusiastic and committed to mutual problem solving, respectful relationships and a lifelong commitment to learning and developing as practitioners, regardless of age or experience.
Suitable applicants will ideally be passionate, motivated and skilled educators who are committed to improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for every child, every day, through our whole school approaches, explicit teaching and instructional strategies.
We are seeking applicants who are innovative and possess high quality teaching skills and knowledge. They will ideally be committed to ongoing professional growth and development, support current whole school processes and be collegial, effective collaborators.
Applicants should ideally be committed to developing positive relationships with students, parents, staff and the wider community. They should possess a strong capacity to plan challenging and engaging programs using an excellent understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum.
