The Role
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Deputy Principal who has outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to join our leadership team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing, developing, and reviewing School Improvement Plans across all curriculum areas with a clear focus on achieving optimal outcomes for students. You should lead curriculum development, demonstrating adaptability and proficiency in managing change. Your role should also focus on supporting teachers to implement evidence based whole school programs in core curriculum areas and effective strategies that pedagogically lower the cognitive load of our students. You should have experience in leading pedagogical change, knowledge of the science of learning and an understanding of the Department of Education’s Teaching for Impact documents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and nurture positive relationships, high expectations, being culturally responsive and working collaboratively to contribute to strengthening our vision of success for all within a culture of excellence and inclusion.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of School Improvement Plans for all curriculum areas.
- Lead curriculum initiatives within the school, ensuring alignment with the School Business Plan 2024-2026 and key Department of Education documents.
- Support teacher growth and capacity building through instructional leadership, including coaching, mentoring, and providing constructive feedback.
- Assist in the collaborative development and implementation of whole-school pedagogical pathway, known as the "Clifton Hills Way," ensuring consistency and low variance in teaching methods across the school.
- Think and plan strategically to identify innovative and practical solutions to challenges based on data analysis.
- Collaborate with the Principal and other stakeholders to foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in teaching and learning.
Clifton Hills needs a Deputy Principal who has:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the diplomacy to modify your leadership style to obtain the best outcomes for all, whilst modelling and promoting the school’s vision and values.
- High motivation and energy levels combined with a sense of humour, as well as displaying the qualities needed to bring people together, inspire confidence, identify opportunities, and establish new initiatives.
- A strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional leadership.
- The capacity to lead the analysis of data effectively, and experience in implementing whole school programs with fidelity.
- The ability to manage change effectively and support teacher development.
- Excellent strategic planning skills with the ability to identify and implement innovative solutions.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative school culture.
- The capacity to work autonomously and productively within given parameters.
- Highly effective organisational skills and uses these to implement processes and protocols.
