We support these students with the support of an Education Assistant and a Special Educational Needs (SEN) plan which is created by the staff who work with the students. SEN plans are individualised, consisting of goals and strategies used to achieve the goals. Experience with Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and Team Teach training is regarded. Adjustments are made by the classroom teacher in class to support the student’s needs for participation, curriculum access and assessment. Some programs used in the Inclusive Learning Unit are Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN), Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communications Handicapped Children (TEACCH), Direct Instruction (Spelling Mastery and Reading Mastery), Letters and Sounds and You Can Do It Education.
Karratha SHS is proud of its ability to achieve academic excellence as well as opportunity for all through its co-curricular programs.
