Wanted: Talented data professional with experience in AI/ML to generate creative solutions to unique spatial problems for government and the WA community.

About the role

The AI/ML Officer works with the AI/ML Consultant to apply AI/ML technologies to imagery, create derivative products, enhance work processes, and deliver customised solutions to stakeholders.

As an AI/ML Officer you will:

  • Train and apply ML models through imagery and scripts to extract geospatial features e.g. buildings, roads, pools, etc.
  • Seek solutions to geospatial and earth observation problems utilising ML methodologies with support and guidance from the AI/ML Consultant.
  • Manipulate and transform raster and vector datasets to deliver and publish data products to our stakeholders.
  • Keep up to date with emerging ML practices and identify ways to apply them to future projects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Ideally you will have experience with and understand the fundamentals of:

  • Deep Learning software packages such as Fastai, Pytorch, Tensorflow.
  • Python, Anaconda and Jupyter Notebooks, as well as Geospatial libraries (e.g. GDAL, Rasterio, Geopandas).
  • Geographic Information System (GIS) Software including ArcGIS and QGIS.
  • Remote Sensing technologies and practices such as understanding of multiband data.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Linux environments.

  • Proficient use of core software applications and technology e.g. Python, ArcGIS, QGIS.
  • Sound data management and organisational practices.
  • Sound stakeholder engagement skills, with a demonstrated ability to deliver quality outcomes within deadlines and to the satisfaction of stakeholders.
