The Role
Teachers in Hedland SHS Mathematics team are focused creating outstanding outcomes for students and empowering every student who enters our classrooms.
Our teachers foster critical thinking, through using a range of teaching and learning strategies, that engage all students and meet their individual needs. At Hedland, our teachers design lessons that are relevant and meaningful; by utilising real work examples and applications, use maths games and activities that are fun, with problems that are satisfying to solve. Where possible we provide ‘on country’ and ‘in industry’ learning experiences.
In this role, the applicant displays knowledge of the Mathematics Western Australian Curriculum and the capacity to teach and or the desire to teach at both senior school, as well as quality numeracy instruction to empower students from diverse and challenging backgrounds. Primary School specialists in numeracy are strongly encouraged to apply.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Hedland Senior High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $10,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
