Onslow School is seeking a Deputy Principal for Kindy to Year 6
Onslow School provides a place to learn together where we look to connect, nurture, and empower young people. Onslow School was founded in 1935 and relocated to the new site in 2006. In this time the school has become a Kindy to Year 12 site with a diverse student demographic. Our staff have a ‘commitment to quality teaching, high expectations and success for all students’ with their use of contemporary and responsive practices that consider our community and student needs.
Our staff use Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) as our approach to maintain a positive learning environment. The Friendly Schools Plus program shares key messages and practices to enhance student wellbeing.
We embrace the culture and history of Thalanyji people, the traditional custodians, of the land on which we work and learn. Our Two-Way Science and Aboriginal Languages program incorporate scientific and cultural knowledge into our Year 1 – Year 6 curriculum.

The Role
The successful applicant will have a depth of understanding or leadership practices, particularly associated with change management, classroom observation and feedback and whole school processes. In addition, the successful applicant will demonstrate strength in interpersonal acumen, trustworthiness and an openness and capacity for learning within a small school setting.
Ideally the successful applicant will display –
- Excellent curriculum and pedagogical knowledge that will enable the strengthening of connected practice across the primary setting.
- Strong knowledge of Department of Education policy and procedures, particularly associated with attendance and behaviour.
- Expertise in leading culturally responsive practices to maximise learning opportunities for our Aboriginal students included EALD.
- High level practice of case management through Muli-Tiered Systems of Support (MTTS) approach.
As a member of the leadership team, you will need to demonstrate a willingness to build collaborative relationships within and beyond the school. This will encompass a shared and distributive leadership model along with contributing to the strategic focus of Onslow School using our 2024 – 2027 Business Plan..
