This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025
Do you thrive on working within diverse and highly rewarding environments?
Manea Senior College (MSC) offers a diverse and unique experience to Year 11 & 12 students. MSC is a pathways school that focuses on university (ATAR) and training pathways in the context of developing students as young adults in a workplace environment with the skills to pursue their goals, after College. The College attracts significant enrolments from both public and non-governments schools in the southwest region and has a reputation for excellence in providing a holistic education for our young adults.
At MSC we have a strong moral purpose to provide students with quality teaching and learning opportunities as well as life experiences that enable them to transition into the adult world. This is achieved through a learning environment that is specialised for young adults and built on the foundations of strong relationships, mutual trust, respect, support and individual accountability. The College operates a young adult, work related environment where relationships are built using a first name basis. All students are regarded as young adults and have our trust and respect.
As members of the Manea team, all staff are expected to uphold the corporate image of Manea Senior College by wearing the staff uniform and participate in self-reflection processes for continual improvement and growth.

The Role
A key function to the role of Manager Student Services (MSS) is to lead the Student Services Team (SST) in delivering support to students, programs and planned strategies and to engage every student in College life and skill development. The SST strives to make College life engaging, meaningful and relevant and to foster effective relationships between both staff and students.
The MSS is responsible for
- Monitoring attendance, behaviour and other aspects of student engagement and processes that support this work;
- Supporting students at risk and developing plans for improvement;
- Leading supportive programs that focus on inclusive engagement and skill development;
- Leading the SST in both supporting students and staff and liaising directly with Administration and key stakeholders;
- Consulting with other support staff in developing Individual documented plans; including medical issues, disability and mental health;
- Providing training and development around positive mental health, wellbeing and other key areas as defined by the student body;
- Responsibility for the Student Executive Team; and
- In-house events and public events, such as our Graduation ceremony.
In collaboration with the principal and members of the College Leadership team, the MSS provides educational leadership in the College and the community by developing and promoting the vision and facilitating workforce effectiveness. We are seeking an individual with outstanding interpersonal skills to lead, coach, mentor and develop staff; support students and parents; and contribute to the young adult and workplace expectations of the College.
This position combines a teaching role (0.2FTE), leadership and management responsibilities. The successful applicant will need to have a capacity to be a strong instructional leader and manager. Applicants will possess superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and a capacity to conceptualise and analyse information as well as student and College wide data. They will be required to possess and demonstrate an ability to identify issues and generate creative and innovative strategies to engage staff and students. In the context of the College, whilst behaviour is an area of responsibility, the successful candidate would need to demonstrate success in proactive tier one and tier two strategy development and implementation, rather than experience in managing challenging behaviour, reflecting a core focus of our College Business Plan and ethos.
