This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025 with possible extension (24 months)
Christmas Island District High School (DHS) is located 360 km southwest of Java and 2600 km northwest of Perth. We cater for approximately 300 students from Pre-primary to Year 12 on our main site and more than 20 Kindergarten students at the Tom Patterson Kindergarten Centre. Our school is well resourced which means class sizes are kept small and extra support is provided to classes in the areas of literacy, numeracy, information and communications technology, and pastoral care. Our commitment to valuing the home languages of the island means that students are offered the opportunity to learn either Mandarin or Bahasa Malay languages.
By agreement, these two Commonwealth schools are administered by the Western Australian Department of Education. Where possible, employment conditions mirror Western Australian mainland schools. Department of Education permanent teachers are able to maintain attachment to their substantive school, subject to line management approval.
