The Role
The Deputy Principal assumes a pivotal role, working closely with the Principal and the administrative team to shape the school's identity. Educational leadership is a key responsibility, involving the active development and promotion of the school's values, ethos, and priorities. The Deputy Principal champions a collaborative approach, encouraging not only staff but also volunteers and community members to actively share ownership of the school's vision and goals. This collaborative ethos extends to change management, where the Deputy Principal strategically facilitates the acceptance of change and identifies opportunities for improved service delivery.
Overseeing school operations, the Deputy Principal is instrumental in ensuring the effective operation of the school. This includes the delivery of the School Plan through decision-making, policy development, and the establishment of systems that align with the school's overarching objectives. Additionally, the Deputy Principal provides strategic direction for staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in professional performance. The Deputy Principal also plays a vital role in the daily management of staff and student well-being, potentially overseeing timetabling responsibilities.
The successful applicant for this position will provide educational leadership and raise the profile of Numeracy and Literacy across the school by implementing strategic direction aligned to the school's Business Plan. They will ideally possess a strong knowledge and understanding of explicit instruction and the instructional coaching model to work closely with teachers. The successful applicant should also display the ability to understand and analyse data and lead the use of student performance data effectively to inform planning and differentiation across all year groups.
It is highly desirable that the successful applicant in the role has strong behaviour management skills, knowledge of PBS and be able to clearly communicate to parents. A part of this role will involve mentoring graduate teachers and managing induction processes for new staff. There may also be a small teaching role required. As Deputy Principal, an in-depth knowledge of ICT processes is desirable to provide strategic leadership and management across all school.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
